The Department of Student Community Standards provides background and disciplinary checks upon official request. These checks are often required by graduate/professional schools, employers, licensure boards, or other institutions seeking verification of a student’s disciplinary history.

Requests for background and disciplinary checks must be submitted directly to our department with the appropriate documentation and signed release of information. Once received, our office coordinates with multiple university offices to complete the request.

Processing Time:

Please allow 7–10 business days for completion of all background and disciplinary checks. Because these requests require review across multiple university offices, processing times may vary. Requests are fulfilled in the order they are received.

Submitting a Request:

  • All requests must include the required release forms and specific details of the information being sought
  • All requests must be sent to our email address at sco@tamu.edu .
  • Incomplete requests will delay processing.
  • Completed reports will be sent directly to the requesting institution, in accordance with applicable university policies and federal privacy regulations (FERPA).
